Our 4:15 Delta flight back to St. Louis was pushed back to 6:15, so we pushed our lunch reservation back from 11:45 to 12:30. We had plenty of time to walk back and forth to Danny Meyer's Blue Smoke, on 27th between Lexington and Park.

We'd dined at Blue Smoke many times in the past, for both lunch and for dinner. It's comfort food in a comfort setting — the perfect getaway lunch. On this occasion, the menu was Southern Brunch. We both opted for the baby back ribs, with a green salad and house bacon for Marlene and marinated cucumbers & onions and barbecue baked beans for myself.

As per usual at Blue Smoke, everything was delicious. Danny Meyer has managed to expand throughout New York, throughout the country and throughout the world, without sacrificing quality. Not an easy task.

Back to the apartment . . . and back to St. Louis.
